Finally we've made it: couple-trip to Penang Island, Malaysia yeaayy.
Actually it was a bit hard to convincing hubby to approve this trip, since he has so many works to do lately and also got some papers from the postgraduate programme which still on going, pararelly he's also need to prepare the proposal for the thesis. But, after my extra effort finally he said yes and suddenly booked the flight and accomodation, hubby luv you so much hahaha.
This trip is also intended to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary (and almost 24 years our togetherness since my early 2nd years the college). Thank you hubby, this is another year of putting up with each other. We deserve an award !!
So here are the Penang Trip Recap:
Day #1st:
We arrived at Penang Island in the morning and then directly went to the hotel to put on our luggage in the hotel's storage room. Lyf Hotel Georgetown is super recomended by me, since it's kinda new building and Chagee Store just a few step from the hotel lobby, we luv it haha. And you know what, if we step across to the another old hotel building in front of the Lyf Hotel we can enjoy the beachfront view, it was so nice just to sit under the coconut tree and doing nothing with ocean view in front of you. Actually it's a part of the property owned by heritage (hotel/restaurant) building, but the security still allow us just to sit and enjoy the scenery or even took picture with mobile phone, but we're not allowed to eat and take pictures with professional camera.

The weather in Georgetown Penang, was super hot and humid so make sure to use sunscreen, sunglasses, wear a hat or bring your umbrella. We're enjoying the city centre, strolling along some famous street just took pictures and so on, and we step a while at the Penang Camera Museum.
We've got a satisfying late lunch at the Penang Road Famous Laksa, the one that very famous among tourists. We ordered laksa, char kuey teow, omelette, and also rojak, all of them were delicious.
For night stroll, we stopped for a while at The Gurney Plaza for dinner in Para Thai Restaurant, and then for 2nd batch dinner, we've found coincidentally a recommended restaurant named Coffe Island Cafe just a few hundreds meter near Gurney Plaza. The atmosphere at the restaurant were so cozy especially at night, the foods were super tasty.
Day #2nd:
In the early morning I was inisiated to did some morning walks to Gurney Bay Parks, we've took a walk directly from the hotel, but unfortunately the weather was not nice that day. Right after we arrived in the parks it was pouring, so we need to taking shelter from the rain, and then went to the cafe across the parks to sip some morning coffe at the Daku Coffee, Gurney Georgetown.
For brunch, we went to one of the famous restaurant among tourist which named Makan Pagi, the queue was a bit insane that morning, but what I love the most that the restaurant have a good management, the queue running a little fast, so it wasn't dissapointed at all, because the food was serving quite quickly and the food we ordered: nasi lemak ayam goreng, wan tan mee, roti bakar kaya, sate ayam were delish !!
Georgetown Penang was about food and food again for the whole day ahahah, in the afternoon we went to the restaurant named Oceano Symphony. This resto looks quite famous, maybe because of the location which is on the seashore, the food and drinks were also not bad. When we arrived, the restaurant was quite busy but not too crowded. We chose a beachfront seat, which required a minimum order of RM 180 excluding tax and services. The view from our seat look like this: .......
We had planned to stay at the restaurant and enjoy the athmosphere until late dinner time while also celebrating our 18th anniversary. We love this restaurant, the food and drinks was delight, the sunset view from our seat was awesome, the ocean breeze was refreshing.
Day #3rd:
Short trip to Penang Hill. We took the grab taxi to reach Penang Hill Station, while we had already purchased the funicular return tickets online, so need to change the barcode into the printed tickets at ticket counter. A little tips: bought the express lane tickets were saving so much queue time. At least when Penang Trip is your first trip, you need to visit Penang Hill. When the weather clears and sunny, we can see the whole Georgetown city from above, the view look like this: ........
We also visited The Habitat Penang Hill, which were a rainforest reserve. We hike through the Langur Way Canopy Walks, and went up to Curtis Crest Tree Top Walk, but unfortunately the weather that day was not favorable, right after we went down from The Curtis Crest, suddenly it started pouring (again).
Went back to the city, we took late lunch at The Coffee Island Cafe (again), this time we ordered: Tom Yam Seafood Soup, Nasi Lemak Sambal Sotong (which came with huge portion), and also dumplings. All the food were above average.
Day #4th
The last day before our flight back to Jakarta in the afternoon, we went to Esplanade's Walkway for morning stroll. The view was so much better than I tought, it was very nice just to sit and doing nothing at the seashore. I don't mind to stay there for hours enjoying the ocean's view and sea breeze. Esplanade's Walkway distance from our hotel was much shorter than Gurney Seaside Parks, it's also located near the famous yellow building City Hall, and walks a few step to the nearest hawker stall to get some local breakfast such as Ali Nasi Lemak Daun Pisang. Our second batch breakfast was Makan Pagi (again), which lately I realized it is located just a few steps away from Penang Road Famous Laksa, at the other side of the street. Back again to the hotel for packing and check out, and then before leaving to the airport, we took lunch at the famous kopitiam in the city Oriental Kopi at the basement area of Gurney Plaza, i bet everything on the menu was absolutely delicious, just don't forget to ordered their egg tart, and the polo bun, they were superb!!
Overall, Penang Island specifically Georgetown City was not bad at all, the food were awesome, the scenery especially for the beachfront view was very nice. But unfortunately we didn't try the bus yet as the transportation there, since the rate for grab taxi was not so expensive, we choose grab rather than bus. We also can enjoying a leisurely walk while admiring the city's architectural charm.
